JOINT LINE RAILTOURS LTD - Terms and Conditions of bookings and travel.
1. All seats on Joint Line railtours must be reserved and paid for in advance, except when Joint Line tours advises that a pay-on-the-day option is available. If no pay-on-the-day is advertised then it is not available.
2. Seats are reserved when booking is made, upon receipt of cheque or postal order. At this time Joint Line Railtours are unable to accept credit / debit card booking, but this is something we hope to address in the very near future.
3. The term 'Child' on tour prices, refers to any persons booking on the tour under the age of 16 at time of booking.
4. All timings shown on the site are for guidance only until we have times confirmed by Network Rail, which will be approximately 3 weeks before the tour day.
5. Boarding passes will be dispatched by first class post approximately 7 days before the tour, along with documentation and confirmed times from Network Rail.
6. While every effort is made to run the tours with advertised itinerary (traction, rolling stock and route) Joint Line Railtours reserves the right to alter the itinerary of a tour, and as such, accepts no liability for a change of itinerary, and no refund is given for this reason.
7. On the day of the tour, Joint Line Railtours, along with out TOC (train operating company) will make every reasonable effort within our control, to make sure the tour runs as planned. However Joint Line Railtours cannot accept responsibility for delays, mishaps, alterations or curtailments of the tour beyond our control.
8. In the event of the tour being unable to complete its journey, Joint Line Railtours will liaise with our TOC to provide alternatives to return all passengers to there joining stations as stated on boarding passes. Please note that will cannot guarantee any onward connections by any means (Rail, Bus, Ferry, Aircraft)
9. At Joint Line Railtours we have a clear refund policy, any persons who hold a booking wishing to make a refund, will be offered a full refund up to 28 days before the tours advised run day. A 50% refund will be offered between 28 days and 14 days before the tours advised run day. No refund is offered less than 14 days before the tours advised run day. We reserve the right to charge up to £10 admin fees on all refunds.
10. The only exception to T&C item 9 (above) is if the tour is cancelled by Joint Line Railtours, in which case a full refund will be made.
11. Joint Line Railtours respectful ask that, if your booking contains any persons who may have a physical disability that we are notified when booking. As our train will be formed of older coaching stock we can only accept manual, folding wheelchairs. We will contact you the day before travel to arrange assistance for you on to our train.
12. Joint Line Railtours reserves the right to cancel the tour if booking numbers are insufficient, and as such, private travel insurance is recommended, as with all long distance travel.
13. Passengers are responsible for their belongings and property at all times. While we will do everything in our power to resolve any issues, we cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged property. If you think you have left anything on our tours, please contact us via our email. During any station stops, passengers are reminded to keep all belongs with them and not to leave them unattended on stations. Due to the current world climate unattended items may be removed and destroyed by station staff. Again Joint Line Railtours cannot be held responsible for such actions.
14. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the train, this includes toilets, vestibules or hanging out of the windows. Since July 2007 it has been illegal to smoke in any confined public spaces. Any persons found smoking will be removed off the train at the next station and the British transport Police informed. The entire UK rail network is no smoking, this includes all stations and platform areas, whether covered or uncovered.
15. Any persons found causing deliberate damage to the train be reported to the British Transport Police and our TOC who may take further action.
16. Please act responsibly, over the past year or so, problems involving a small group of enthusiasts have made Network Rail wary of allowing railtours to run and we are now watched and monitored very closely. We ask that while we have no objection to people by open windows listening to the sound of the locos, please do not lean out of the window so any part of your body could come into contact with any structures, and please no 'bellowing' or 'flailing' or yelling out of windows. Your co-operation in this matter is greatly appreciated, and is key to the continued operation of railtours on the mainline.
17. If a problem arises on the day please seek help from a steward or the train manager who will do everything they can to resolve the matter.
18. We regret we are unable to convey bicycles on our trains.
